Investors' Confidence
The bank's ordinary share capital was first listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2002 at N4.00 per share. By 2004, we undertook our first Initial Public Offer (IPO) at N6.00 per share, which was a 50% growth over the initial listing price.
In 2006, we undertook a public offer at N13.50 per share, a 125% growth over the IPO price and 158% over the initial price. Needless to say that each of these public offers was highly over subscribed.
As at February 28, 2007, the share closed at N20.99 per share, a 55.5% increase over the public offer price and 425% leap over the initial listing price in 2002. The growth potentials in the bank's equity price still look very promising.
Beyond the improvement in absolute price of the bank's ordinary share capital, there have been several splits (bonuses) in the bank's per unit equity share since the initial listing. In 2005 for instance, two different bonus issues were made to
the existing shareholders, firstly a bonus of 1 for every 10 shares and subsequently 7 for every 91 shares held.
Overall an investor who invested in the ordinary share at the initial listing in 2002 would have enjoyed a 557% growth in capital appreciation, dividend payment and bonus issues.
